Battle of the Books

About Battle of the Books

We can’t wait for an exciting year of Battle of the Books  at Veterans Park!  If your child loves to read and enjoys friendly competition, this club is for you!  Each year, FCPS hosts a Battle of the Books competition among elementary schools in the district.  Participants compete in a “battle” in April over questions comprised from 12 different books they have read throughout the year.  This is a voluntary reading incentive program open to students in grades 3-5.

Students will be required to read each of the books listed below as well as complete various assignments on each book in order to prepare for the competition in April.  If your child is interested in competing with VPE’s Battle of the Books team this year, please complete this registration form.  We will send out more detailed information to interested families.   We are  looking forward to a fun year of reading!  Our first meeting will take place in the library at 7:15 on September 11.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have!
